What exactly is going on?
You're personally calling Mike out on the news bar? Why? What's the benefit of this, other than a cute and smarmy public shaming?
Obviously, Howie, you don't like Mike and I suspect the feelings may be mutual. Okay, whatever. But be careful you don't find yourself stepping into Despot Territory.

May I suggest you go back and read all of Mike's posts before you attempt a "public shaming" of me? Afterwards, come back here and read this: Precisely why I value Mike's presence on this forum and why I want Shannon to participate more. Although I'm confident Shannon could do it in a far more intelligent and adult manner. Amen... As I've stated innumerable times, my intent with this forum is that it not end up like the muche...with the owner insulting and berating members he doesn't agree with and with participants going all Kazz-bot over nothing while also berating and insulting their fellow posters. This forum, like the muche, has unfortunately developed into not a discussion of the issues, but a discussion of the minutae. On one hand, we have lilMike bombarding discussions with needless picking away at moot points and continued disrespect for his fellow posters. On another hand we have FaFa bombarding discussions with needless conspiracy insanity; both with the intention of directing the conversation away from the civil and intelligent and into the realm of idiocy. My experience those years on the muche developed into a constant defense of my words and thoughts. To the point the issue became inconsequential. Faced with attacks, including the personal, I fought harder and made a fool of myself in the process; thus realizing the goal of those who berated me. I will not allow this to happen here. When I set up this forum, I asked that we police ourselves. That has failed. Effective today, any post of lilMike's that delves into the personal attack and any post from FaFa that introduces a silly conspiracy-related comment into a topic will be moved to a special section of the board; the Children's Playground. Don't like it? Fine. Leave. You can go here. At least I didn't ban anyone and still have my integrity. |

I read his posts, and I also read that one. Thanks for the presumption.
What I saw from his posts and your posts are two smart-ass, vaguely-insulting-but-not-really-vaguely, combative people sniping at each other. I don't see him being any worse than you have been. All three of you escalated it. Except he is the one pulled out on the news bar. Mike's not the one going around writing & editing biased mod posts--that's what I'm talking about. It's juvenile. Why the jackass comparison between Shannon Burke and Mike, who while perhaps being stubborn and one sided (like the rest of us, really), is certainly intelligent? The best moderators do what needs to be done, announces what's been done, and then drops it. They also keep their personal opinion out of moderation decision. For an example of an excellent way to use moderation, check out boingboing.net.
All I'm saying is, this board took a definite veer back into "Late 2010's Muche Land" a little while back, and you might want to think about reversing it. Neither of you guys rose above the mud in this.

Forums in general don't seem to garner much participation. Two of the 5 or 6 who do participate are now part of yet another declaration and threat. Precisely what I don't do, make things personal.

What is surprising to me often and upsetting is this:I will think that Howey and I are past something, where I want to be...we occasionally share a laugh in a pm kind of thing. Then more than once I run across myself being mentioned or associated with an apparent plague. This isn't about a free forum living or dying to me or my love;the vids. It's about the core people who I care about which is the only reason that I keep trying. As Cass mentioned, a monitor administrator can't be intimately/emotionally involved in every thought happening on something that it takes about 15 seconds to set up.

he asks one thing of you.. to keep the conspiracy to your section. you can't see what is and isn't conspiracy tho and that's where the problem is.. you also like to throw wrenches into topics and derail them..  not that topics have to stay on course, but for example, the other day in the scott thread I mentioned 'police state'.. and you replied with an FDA thing that really had nothing to do with private prisons.. Ok, no big deal since I went there with you and it turned into a good conversation-- I mean, I know Puff mentioned it wasn't very adult, LOL, but I had fun.. I tried to convey that with the smileys, but maybe that 'fun' didn't come thru.. ... anyway, if you did that once or twice then it's no big deal, but you do it all the time.. and that becomes maddening.. Just start a new topic that's all.. but, imagine someone coming to your video thread posting about a book they had read or a new restaurant they had tried.. and then doing that all the time. It would become maddening to you to the point where you were sensitive to anything that person posted anywhere on the board.. Does that help explain it a little?  and the stuff about Howie and I are either lying, doing something suspicious or untrustworthy and whatnot.. really has to end right now... you want to call me a bitch, that's fine I am and can be.... but to call me suspicious and unbelievable is crossing a line that I'm not going to tolerate. Like it or not, I am a mod here.. and I don't, nor have I, lied to anyone... I haven't any reason to. Some of you people know more about my personal life and marriage than even my family knows.. I have nothing to hide and won't be accused otherwise..I don't lie or post in a fashion to deceive anyone on any topic... again, I have no need to... and if you take that as your cue to find a way to 'get at me' because you want to pick at me, you do it at your own peril IMO.. if you have an issue where you think I, or Howie or anyone else on this forum has been unfair or has lied or been untruthful or hurt you in some way.. PM one of us and we'll figure it out.. There is way to figure out, fix it, and move on.. but only if someone is willing to share instead of letting it build up. For the most part all Howie or me want is a free-flow of ideas and conversations, with as little limits as possible, but some limits in order to keep a good flow of things coming..(and Howie from being sued HA!) as i said before.. in a much smaller way..
